Raptors!
Mrs. Compton was here today and shared interesting information about raptors that live in our state. We have a great variety of hawks, eagles and osprey that live in our area. She gave us a link to a webcam (located in Washington DC) that shows a nesting eagle pair. There are actually eggs in the nest!!! www.outdoorchannel.com/eaglecam . Check out the link! Here is another webcam site that show a peregrine nest in Boise. http://www.peregrinefund.org/subsites/webcam-peregrine/ How many birds of prey have you seen? You also might want to just visit the World Center Birds of Prey website for other interesting information. http://www.pereginefund.org

Reading for the week of 2/11-2/14 and Nose to Nose
We will be reviewing for a unit test this week so we will not be having regular spelling words. The unit test will be on Wednesday 2/13. It will ask questions like: What are some things that are important to succeed in business? How is Ivan's success different from the other characters in the other stories? What caused the characters in "Food From the Hood" and Business is Looking Up" to go into business?
There will also be a portion of the test that asks the students to pick out the misspelled word; choose the definition of the vocabulary words; how to use commas, capitalization of words, punctuate a date, abbreviate words and using quotation marks in a sentence. All of which we have covered in this unit. We will review all of the during class Monday and Tuesday.
We had our first Nose to Nose presentation and it was fabulous. Mrs. Evans from Idaho Fish and Game came to school in period costume and showed us many of the animals (many of which still live here in our wonderful state) that were found in Idaho during the pioneer days. We are looking forward to the next presentation!
